Who Am I?
In 1996 a starry-eyed kid was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. He discovered at an early age his passion for stories, art and thinking about things way too hard. Exploring the ins and outs of art and aesthetic things came naturally and evolved into the most rewarding and challenging profession he could imagine: Graphic Designer.
At the tender age of 14, I got to work as an intern with a dear friend of the family and freelance photographer, named Bert Leandersson. I was taught the basics of photography, but what really caught my attention was the program used to work the pictures: Photoshop. I was excited, thinking about all the possible applications and projects I could do. Not only that, but I decided then and there that I wanted to become a graphic designer. And so I began my journey.
Three years of Aesthetics and Media at Schillerska, one year of Media, Aesthetics and Cultural Entrepreneurship at GU and of course two years of YRGO´s “IP Grafisk Produktion och Form” gave me all the tools I needed for the trade. But there was something missing for me. My studies at GU had revealed to me that I really liked academia, and there was still much for me to learn. I took a course in Art History, to broaden my appreciation and understanding of art (and to fill in a few gaps of knowledge). While this was illuminating, the real point of interest here for me was the underlying philosophies of the art itself. I wanted to know more. My next course would therefore be Practical Philosophy. And it revealed to me my second great passion. I was stuck and ended up getting a bachelors degree in Practical Philosophy.
Now, armed with the know-how and tools granted to me by my graphic design education as well as the wealth of theoretical knowledge from my philosophy degree, I am ready to take on whatever challenges life can throw at me. I am driven by the passion of my interests and want nothing more than to show what I can do.
In my spare time I enjoy going to the movies, drinking beer with my friends, reading books, playing nerdy games and taking really long walks in the forest. I enjoy a good run and have been known to play some video games from time to time.
I dream of working as a graphic designer full time, preferably at some cool agency with nice coworkers, waking up each day doing something new and exciting, as no design work is ever the same. And that's what I love about it. Finding new creative solutions to complex problems. One day I may even be foolish enough to try to publish a philosophical book of my own (layout and design by yours truly, of course), who knows?
As of today, I am 28 years old, I live in Gothenburg and I feel ready to take on the world with my designs. Are you ready?
